This species is found with or partners with the following hosts. Ectomycorrhizal hosts (green border) form a root-level partnership; ericoid / arbutoid shrubs (purple border) share the same mycorrhizal networks.

Generic conifer habitat — pine, spruce, fir, hemlock, or Douglas-fir. Shown when the species is reported from conifers without a specific tree.
European cousin of Deadly Webcap with the same slow-acting orellanine kidney toxin. Brownish-orange cap, conical when young, yellow stem with cortina (webby veil). Fatal kidney failure can occur 3 days to 3 weeks post-ingestion.
Deciduous forests, especially under oak and beech. Native to Europe; occasional reports in North America from imported nursery stock. Summer through fall.
