Generic conifer habitat — pine, spruce, fir, hemlock, or Douglas-fir. Shown when the species is reported from conifers without a specific tree.
Robust brown-capped gilled mushroom with a ringed stem and often a hoarfrost-like bloom on the cap. Formerly in genus Rozites — now in Cortinarius. The ONLY Cortinarius considered safe to eat, though foragers should be very certain of ID because the genus contains deadly species.
